can you use an access 2003 with an access 2000 database?

The office where I work has converted to access 2000. In order to do some
work at home, I need to upgrade from access 97. If I upgrade to office 2003,
will I be able to work in the access 2000 database without altering it in a
way that would make it inusable for everyone using access 2000?? Am I
correct in thinking you work down but not up? (that is I can't use 97 to
work in 2000, but can use 2003 to work in 2000).
Thanks!

Access 2003 uses Access 2000 format by default. So unless you deliberately
save your DB in A2003 format, the answer to your question is yes, you can use
a DB created in Access 2003 in Access 2000. Just be sure that you do not use
any new functionality that did not exist in Access 2000.

Rosco,
Thanks for your answer, don't mean to be dense, I know just enough about
this program to get in trouble, but would you mind clarifying a few things
for me.
1. If I am just entering data, not creating anything, it would be ok?
2. I could use the existing queries, just not change their design?
3. Anything I create (like a query or a new form) in access 2003 would not
be usable in 2000?

Am I correct on all these?
Thanks again!

Not a problem

Not a problem either

Most objects you create or modify in 2003 will work fine in A2K. You just
need to be sure you don't use a feature that is new with the later version,
because A2K, coming first, won't recognize that feature. From what you are
describing of your intensions, you should not have any problems.

Hope this helps
