Can you create an ERD on a CD?

My notebook came without a floppy drive. Since it can be set to boot from a
CD, is it possible to create an emergency repair disk on a CD instead of on
floppies?

You can run Programs|Accessories|System Tools|Backup, then choose ERD, then
if you check the box for "Also backup....", then the reg will also be backed
up to
%windir%\repair\RegBack
leaving the
%windir%\repair\
directory files intact as original installation.

Even though the floppy creation fails the necessary files will be written
to;
%windir%\repair\RegBack
which can be used in the event a repair is needed.

:
| Dave - so I could then copy those files onto a CD?
* Yes, absolutely.

Would it be bootable?
* No. The ERD floppy isn't bootable either. To start any repair process you
boot from The Windows 2000 install CD-Rom.

Oops... when I click the Emergency Repair Disk button on the Backup|Welcome
tab, I get "Backup Error: No floppy drive available. Operation aborted" and
left in the regular Backup tab.

You can use regback.exe and regrest.exe from the resource kit to perform the
same function.
