Me beeing a fidler I re-install XP Pro often. Allways my stupidity.
Could all updates be installed as a single unit, insted of doing it one by
one. I have them all on disc. But as you all know to install them one by one
takes ages. (I am praying for sp2)
Thanks

Hi Frank,

It would be great if Microsoft releases the XP SP2 soon.

As for the current issue, see if this helps:

I certainly would not attempt to install them all at once from a disc - even
if you got beyond trying.

I would go back to Microsoft Support and have them scan your system and let
you know what they suggest. You can choose the patches/updates that you want
and install them all in one go from there. I suggest, however, that except
maybe for your firewall and, of course, IE, you close any open programmes
before starting.

Hope this helps,

Ed

Actually, installing SP1 and the rollup package can be done very
easily, and done during the XP install. How? Do a google search on
slipstreaming SP1 into the XP CD. The Rollup1 package can also be
added to this package, so that after you install XP you won't need any
additional updates.

I know it can be done safely as I've done it safely on several
occasions. No problems.
