Can receive email but cant send email

Outlook 2002 is receiving mail fine,
but I cannot send mail as of last Saturday. I was working
fine for many months! After I click send, it sends the
message to the Outbox and never sends it. I click
on "send/receive" and I can receive new mail, but the
outgoing mail in the Outbox doesn't send. I get an error
message that reads:

Task 'mail.kathyabbott.com - Sending and Receiving'
reported error (0x800CCC0F) :
'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this
problem continues, contact your server administrator or
Internet service provider (ISP).'

I have contacted my ISP and they said that my incoming
POP3 settings and outgoing SMTP settings are correct (I
didn't change them and they were working before.)
I also got MS's updates to Outlook, but the outgoing mail
still wont go.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi Kathy:

I had the same problem. I had to check "My Server
Requires Authentication" to get it to work. An update on
server side will cause this. Go to Control Panel, Mail,
and get into the Advanced setting for your Connection.

Good Luck
