can only support 1 outgoing pptp connection ?

Hi,

Im have a 2mb/256 cable net connection. We use pptp to support sites and
have done for several years. Recently however we have only been able to use
a single pptp connection at any time. As soon as another machine attempts a
connection the first pptp connection will freeze and drop. This problem is
not site specific as we are seeing the same problem connecting to multiple
hosts and different combinations of each.

Can anyone offer some advice ?

We also host the following services on this connection:
- ftp (never has more than 1 user connected)
- http (never has more than 2 users connected)
- pptp (only has 1 incoming user)

Thanks
Scott

Win2k server PPTP (sp4)

I dont think its a router restriction as it was working before. I dont admin netgear DG834.

- user1 will connect to a site using MS vpn adapter over pptp.
- some time later user2 will connect to a different site using MS vpn adapter over pptp.
- user1's connection will then freeze and eventually drop while user2's connection remains in place.

Check to make sure your router has GRE configured correctly, PPTP VPN
tunnels require GRE support, if your router can only handle having GRE on
the first tunnel heading out then that would cause the behavior you've
explained. Linksys nat/routers had this problem, they have subsequently
fixed this in firmware

- user1 will connect to a site using MS vpn adapter over pptp.
- some time later user2 will connect to a different site using MS vpn
adapter over pptp.
- user1's connection will then freeze and eventually drop while user2's
connection remains in place.
