can only open database as read-only

I created an access database for a friend at a different location. when i
send him the mdb file, he can only open as read only. how do I allow him to
use the database?

How did you send it to him? Did you burn it to a CD? Make sure he is
copying the DB to his computer and not trying to use it from a CD or
from an email attachment.

How did you send it to him? On a CD I bet.

Have him copy the database file from the CD to his computer's hard drive or
a drive where he has full privilieges on the network.

While in Windows Explorer have him right click on the database.mdb file. Go
down to Properties. Turn off the Read Only attribute.
