Can only open certain websites

I have exactly the same problem here,

ie cannot access what appears to be a random selection of web sites, for
instance adobe.com. These sites either return "Internet Explorer cannot
display the webpage" or load veeeery slowly (a few minutes), whereas other
sites load w/o any problems at all.

I run Vista Beta 2 5384 (x64) on a dual boot set up with XP Pro (where all
sites load as expected).

Is it possible you do not have an internet connection and what you are seeing
are cached pages?

This seems to be a hopefully known and to be addressed problem with stateful
routers/firewalls - which seems to mostly affect the web browser and mail (at
least the secure IMAP connection just hangs as well for me after the initial
handshake, the connection is there but no data gets transferred) funnily
enough SecureCRT and SSh connections to other boxes work as expected. Funnily
though the bug seems to be old, see http://blogs.zdnet.com/Bott/?p=10

Vista beta2 in here, x32 version.

I can only open a limited number of web pages e.g. www.google.com and some
blogs.
I'm unable to open websites like www.yahoo.com, www.altavista.com and even
www.msn.com
I can't even activate my windows vista because of this problem.
*Tried installing mozilla firefox, and same problem occur.

Sounds like it might be a mtu problem

try changing your mtu size down to 1400 or something smaller than 1500 in
any case

Seen this problem loads of time before with crappy ISP's or old router
hardware.

have a look at MS KB283165 for more info

IE caching appears to be another problem in this release.

If I set IE to automaticallly search for newer versions of web sites, it
returns old cached versions even though content has updated significantly on
the server.

I might give it a try, but how do you change the mtu in vista? i can only
find the solution for xp.

Well its the same principle about changing the right reg keys but im sure
your mileage may vary. In XP thats almost certainly the answer - would be a
shame if they'd changed it for vista.

From memory in XP there is an option to auto detect the MTU size which may
not be currently working in vista but turn it on as per the KB's (look at
the linked too KB's also) and report back how you get on.

I hope you understand if this is to do with MTU then this isnt a vista (or
MSoft problem) but a hardware (router for example) close to your end problem

I am having the same problem to the "T". I tried to eliminate the D Link
router I have, however I realized that the router comes AFTER the Ethernet
plug for the D Link, for examplePoert 1 has a CAT 6 cable to the Ethernet
Vard on the PC. Port 2 is plugged wit the Wireless Router which "supplies two
wirelees adapters - one for a PC and 1 for my PDA - none of them have a
problem.

Anything else! Why is IE 7 allowing Google universally thru!

I'm having exactly the same problem. Google, MSN, and the Live pages all
work, but far more sites won't load than do load. For example, the live.com
search page loads, but the search results won't. A few pages, like CNN.com,
will load the title bar but nothing more.

Vista was installed on a clean drive. Booting the same box to XP64 results
in normal internet access. Vista DNS and pings appear to be fine.

Since this problem won't allow Windows Activation to work, I have exactly 14
days to find a fix.

Please help!
