Dear members,
Can one change his internet protocol, if so how?
If you go into chat rooms at Yahoo, as far as I know your Internet Protocaol
is recorded, why; I do not know, besides is it legal?

Yes they can keep records of who uses their services. Why do something
you're worried about someone tracking you down for?

Not really. Your ISP may decide to issue you a new one every now and then.
You might increase the chances of this happening by disconnecting from your
web connection, waiting a while and then reconnecting.

Or doing that might make no difference at all. Depends on your ISP.

If you go *anywhere* on the internet the website, chat room, whatever you're
trying to contact needs to know your IP address in order to be able to send
back the webpage, chat messages, or whatever it is you were hoping to get
from going there in the first place.
,besides is it legal?

Is what legal?

You know, I'm trying to think of reasons why one would worry over your IP
address being logged in a chat room and the least worst I can come up with
is that you managed to get yourself kicked and banned from a chatroom.
There's obviously a fascinating story behind your request here...

Oh, I can think of others: He's about to solicit some preversion (in the
words of Col. Bat Guano). He's a terrorist or wannabe terrorist and need to
coordinate his activities with other members of his clan. He's wants to
commit a crime - such as a threat to the life of the president - and wants
to remain undetected.

Fortunately, there is an easy solution to these difficulties: use the
computer at your local library.

Police: "You called about a man exposing himself?"
Librarian: "Yes. He was on the computer in the children's room viewing porn
and he exposed himself while engaged in self-gratification."
Police: "Do you know who he was or can you describe him?"
Librarian: "I know who it was, but we value the privacy of our patrons. I
will not supply that information."
Police: "(?) Well, what CAN you tell me?"
Librarian: "Get a warrant, you nazi."
