can not send email, but can receive

Here is the message I'm receiving and we've checked the passwords, and
clicked off the authentication button. etc.

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

"Clicked off the authentication button" is a somewhat imprecise statement.
What you need to do: Go to Tools, Accounts, select that mail account,
Properties, Servers, and make sure there is a checkmark in the box for
"My server requires authentication", and no checkmark in the box for
"Log on using Secure Password Authentication."

An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'Fw: Fwd: Rubber gloves',
Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'smtp.gmail.com', Protocol: SMTP,
Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0B

This worked until today, (Gmail & windows mail) & yes I have checked
all my settings, nothing has changed, & I have rebooted. I see I need to
share the entire error message- & now I do feel , I cant find
where to start a new thread. Sorry for posting here.

That's a hexadecimal number, so it can contain a numeral 0 but not
a letter O.

"Unknown error" is almost always caused by a non-compatible
antivirus. Often it takes several months before problems show up.
As a test, uninstall your antivirus, reboot, then try Windows Mail again.
If this fixes the problem, we can recommend a free antivirus that is
more compatible with Windows Mail.

For many of the problems in Windows Mail caused by antivirus
programs, just turning off the antivirus program seldom helps. You
have to uninstall it instead, and if it's fron Norton or McAfee, you
often also have to run a cleanup program to take care of what the
uninstall left behind.

Also. I've seen Zone Alarm described as a firewall program, but
not as an antivirus program.

Uh, what didn't work?
Kindly quote the message you're responding to, as is the custom here.

Yes, a complete uninstall (and reboot) is required in order to eliminate any
possible effects from your antivirus program.
