Can not save web pages to server! Why? Please HELP!!!

Dear all,

I used FrontPage 2000 for my website. All of my files are saved on server.
When I opened Microsoft FrontPage, I always click "file" -> "open web" ->"my
folder name" ->"open". Recently, I want to add some of new web pages to my
server. When I click "file"->"Save as", an error message shows up and ask me
to close down FrontPage. I tried to start all over again, but the same issue
kept shows up. It's been 2 days already, and I can't figure out where the
problem is. Can anyone help me to find the problem and fix it? I am very
concerning the safety and security of my website. Please HELP!! Thank you
so much!

I downloaded FP Cleaner and run the program. The error message still come
out as:

Microsoft FrontPage application file has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you for the suggestion, I think we need to figure some other solutions.

When I edit something and click "save", it works fine as usual. But
Frontpage application asked to close down when I click "Save as". Any idea?

The Frontpage asked me to insert the CD-Rom of Microsoft Office 2000 Premium
in order to continue the repair. I don't have the CD here........

Any other way? Thank you.

You can't run detect and repair without the cd.

When I purchased my laptop, the software came with the hardware. Is the CD
available for purchase? Can I purchase an used CD? Or it's easier to
upgrade to higher version Frontpage??? Thank you.

You can try to find that old version, perhaps on e-bay. But, I'd be very
careful to insure it's a legit copy.

Use this work around;

Do not open the file you want to use as a template.
Right click on it, go to copy.
Then paste it. The file name will be "copy of XYZ.htm"
Rename it.
Double click to open and edit.

Your problem is there are corrupted headers in your site. When you open a
"browse" box FrontPage grabs meta data to see what icon to use (and other
stuff). If it encounters corrupted data, it crashes.

If you have access to the server itself (publish a backup copy of the site
first) uninstall the FP server extensions, go in and manually delete all the
"_vti_" folders.

Re apply the extensions, then publish your site from the backup location
back over the site. (You should be able to do all that while the site runs.)

OR, publish the site to a separate location (sub web). Delete half of it
(doesn't matter which half). Try save as. Does it work? Yes = corrupted
file was in deleted half. No = corrupted file is still there. Using this
method find the file that is corrupted. Recreate if from your template or
just re-do the headers (you will need to know a bit of HTML for that.)

If you can find it. It's no longer available and out of support. FP 2003
is also no longer available, as it has been replaced by Expression Web.

Thank you for your instruction. I did the "copy of XYZ.htm" and it works
fine for now. I will back up a copy of my site, but don't know how to
uninstall FP server extention and deliete "vti" file. My server is hosted by
a hosting company, shoule I reapply for a new FP extention user id and
password? Thanks again!

Your hosting company may have a control panel that will allow you to remove
the FrontPage Server Extensions and reinstall them. If not contact them to
do so (that's what you are paying them for)

If your web site is complete, visit the site with Internet Explorer and
choose Edit with Microsoft Office Frontpage from the File drop down menu.
Then publish the entire web site to your hard drive. Be aware that this will
wipe out all FrontPage work that you have on your hard drive, so I would
suggest that you choose a new folder.
