Hopeing someone can help.... I have a network set up at home cable
modem goes into linksys wireless router into my xp machine. I have my
address set static. now eveything was working fine untill yesterday, we
lost power to the house, when the power cam back on i had no internet
access on my xp machine.
first thing i did was power down modem and router and power them up in
correct order.
------i know the modem works because its a voip modem and phone line
works
so still no connection
so i pinged my default gateway and got a request timed out
i know usually when you cant ping default gateway its a firewall or
some security issue but in my caes its not
could the power going out have zapped my router????

can anyone help, whats the next step in network trouble shooting

Do you know that you are connecting to the router? Can you login to the router,
and check its settings?

Start with "ipconfig /all" from the computer.

You do have an Ethernet connection, to connect to the router when setting it up,
right?
