can NOT get Vista to install and run

I've tried 3 different Vista installs on 2 different pc, and if by some
miracle it installs it is the ssssllllloooowwwweeeesssstttt system, I've
timed and each mouse click takes about 10 seconds to respond.

I've done all installs on an Intel hyperthreaded pc with 1GB RAM and 60GB
drive. If I install XP pro, it flies on either machine, but Vista chokes !!!

Well Jeff i have to agree with you. Unfortunately i'm only using 512MB RAM
at present (soon to upgrade to 1.5GB) and things are really slow for me too.
Performance is usually the last hurdle in a beta, usually it is a case of
sorting out the major bugs before improving performance, so we may find some
improvement as we reach the RC stage.

I've installed Vista on 4 different PC's:

Dell XPS Gen 2, 3.0Ghz P4, 1GB RAM, 128MB ATI video card
Dell GX620, Dual Core, 2GB RAM, integrated Intel video
Dell D620, Core Duo, 512MB RAM, integrated Intel video
Dell D820, Core Duo, 2GB RAM, nVidia 256MB dedicated video

Even on the D620 with only 512MB RAM, the OS runs fairly quickly. Load
-that- PC up with just a couple of big apps and, yeah, it slows down, but,
overall, performance has not been an issue for me.

How much free space do you have on that 60GB HD?

My experience is different. I also have a hyperthreaded (3 GHZ) laptop with
1 GB Ram (128 used by Video) and don't find it slow at all. And it is just
the regular beta2 available to the public, not a later beta. Do you keep
your drive cleaned of temp files and defragment when needed? I would also
would look at your free drive space, but if that isn't a problem, then I
couldn't account for the slowness.
