Can not delete an email out of inbox

I can not delete an email on a users inbox I get this error "The item could
not be deleted. It was either moved or already deleted, or access denied."

The mail was sent to multiple users and there is more than one that can not
delete this mail.

The message is not on the exchange server.

The message was deleted from the sent items from the user who sent the mail.

Users mailbox is not cached.

Logging into another pc on the network, message still there.

Using Outlook 2003 sp2
OS: XP sp2

Any help or ideas that i can try out?
Thanks

If the mailbox is not cached and you see it when logging in on another
machine, how did you make the determination that the item is not on the
Exchange Server? Because those first two points indicate that it is still
on the server in this users mailbox. Do you see the message in OWA? What
version of Exchange?

If you see the message in OWA and you can't delete it there either, which I
suspect you will see it (and then you won't be able to delete it) you may
want to post this to one of the Exchange newsgroups as it sounds more like a
server issue than an Outlook problem.

Well our Network Admin said he can not find that mail on the server.
If you access the mailbox via OWA the mail does not appear there.

By any chance, was this message recalled by the original sender?

Do you see it if you change to a different view?
