CAN NOT BOOT UP XP

I can not boot my Toshiba laptop running XP professional. The system stops
during boot up at WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ACPITABL.DAT. Also… I am not able to boot
in safe mode, run Last Known Good Configuration or boot to a command prompt.
I do not have a floppy, and the system locks if I try and load the window xp
cd. Is there any way I can create a bootable CD that would bring me to a
command prompt. In hopes that I could rename the acpitabl.dat file. I hope
by skipping the aciptabl.dat file the system might boot up. HELP!!!

your win cd is a bootable cd.

you can get to the cmd prompt
via its recovery console...

Two other free possibilities:

"Ultimate Boot CD for Windows"
<http://www.ubcd4win.com>

"Knoppix" (Linux live CD)

well, if it locks up the
possibilities are limited and
you have no floppy drive to
provide you with the method
of booting with msdos startup
floppy.

take a look at your cmos and
make sure your hd is enabled and
see what other options you have
with booting, eg usb. it might
be possible to use a usb boot
flash drive if you can boot to usb.

since you have a laptop, you
may have a hidden partition
with emergency booting and or
recovery options.

also, you might have a boot virus
so you might try to boot with
an antiviral emergency disk.

double check your laptops
website and review the faq's
and maybe look for free downloads
that are part of your system.

sorry i couldn't provide with an
exact answer for your issue. but
hopefully the above will provide some
clues for you....

The xp cd locks after loading the drivers. It just stops responding.
