Can I use Word's border/shading to publish an ebook?

Am I allowed to use Word's border and shading features in an ebook I will
convert to pdf format and sell or would I be running into a copyright issue
if I used these features? If I used just the shading feature, would that be
a problem?

It depends a great deal on which Office/Word package you have... The Student
& Teacher version would most likely be a violation, others probably not.
Take time to read the End User License Agreement (EULA) you accepted when

I can't imagine that it would be possible to copyright borders and shading,
unless you're talking about Border Art.
