Can I use Remote Data Access and Merge Replication with MSDE?

Hi, can I use Remote Data Access or Merge Replication between a compact
framework Pocket PC app and a standard .NET framework app if I don't have
SQL 2000 installed on the standard PC? (so I'd probably have to se MSDE)

The global idea is just to syncronize the databases in the Pocket PC and the
desktop PC via activesync.

Thanks in advace.
Diego.

yes, you can setup RDA or Merge Replication between SQL CE and MSDE
running on a PC.

Thanks Robert, but I don't really see how can it be done by activasync, I'll
have to reschedule about it, any link to another article ith info regarding
how to do it via code/activesync would be useful though.

Diego,

What you are missing is the key to how RDA currently works on the pocket
pc... http://www.devbuzz.com/content/eyecandy_01_pg1.asp It would be a good
idea to get familiar with the MS approach... and some alternative tools.
ActiveSync is just one of the pieces in any of the data management
scenarios.

A couple items - you can currently use SQL CE 2.0 / MSDE in remote data
access... however, it is difficult to configure. The reason that I even
mention this - is that the new SQL Mobile will _NOT_ allow you to use any
kind of syncronization method with MSDE (SQL Express). You will need to be
using...

SQL Mobile < --- > SQL Mobile
SQL Mobile < --- > MS SQL Server

Good luck.
