I need to set my son's computer to shut down automatically at a specifed time
each night. Trying to avoid the nightly "It's time to get off the
computer"..."OK, be done in a few minutes..."

20 minutes later he's still on and we start all over again. UGH
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Dear campli:

Look on the front of the computer.. you should find some sort of
pre-installed button or knob that will disable the computer by disconnecting
it from the power source... Turn this to the off position. If the computer
somehow miraculously turns itself on again, you have a number of options:

1. On booting the computer, enter the BIOS setup and insert a Supervisor
password. Do not reveal this password to the child.
2. Remove the computer from the home.
3. Remove the child from the home.

Naturally, you'll want to try option 3 first, but I suggest you give options
1 and 2 a chance!

All kidding aside, this isn't really an appropriate question for this
newsgroup, which is for questions about Microsoft Access, a database
program. Do a Google search with terms like "parental control software" and
you should find a lot of useful info!

#4 worked for me. Go out to the garage and flip the circuit breaker for that
room. Computer was on a small UPS so they had a few minutes to save their
work.
