Can I reinstall Win XP over SP1 upgraded computer?

I need to know if I can reinstall the Win XP prof. over an installation with the SP1 upgrade without loss it.

No, you will lose the SP1 update, and all other updates applied. It also
creates a number of other issues with functions of the OS.

You'll lose SP1.
