Can i leave EWF disabled

I have installed an anti-x client on my hp t5720 running xpe sp2. I want it
to update virus definitions, so i'm assuming i will have to leave EWF
disabled. Well this cause a problem with virtual memory? Just want to make
sure leaving ewf disaled isn't bad practice. I have read articles tat say
the use of EWF is secuity enough, but i disagree and want to use an anti-x
client. Thanks in advance!

It is more than security, it protects the life of the flash drive that the
OS is running on. If HP included an IDE flash disk with wear-level, you
might be okay, otherwise the flash will wear out over time. You will begin
to notice slow system performance overtime.
