Can I get my money back?

Hi I upgraded to Vista about a week ago and I could not get Vista to work
right. I can not keep my pc running for more then 20 mins before I get a blue
screen and it restarts over and over. I'm moving back to XP home basic and I
want to know if I can get my money back with out breaking any rules. I spent
$239.99 (without tax) on Windows Vista Home Premium and I bought it from
BestBuy with a good CD key.

I did the test for vista and all of them said I was good to go and I did all
the tips to get vista to work. But it didn't and I would like to retrun this
copy of vista but I don't know how since I never taken back any open software
and $239.99 is a lot of money for me since I'm a student. And BestBut wants
me to pay $129 to have them place Vista on my pc and that I can not do.

Here is what my pc has inside...

AMD 64 X2 4800+
Asus A8N-SLI Premium
2 GB of Memory ( PNY- 400 MHz Pc 3200)
Geforce 7900 GS
Seagate 250 GB Hard Drive

I would not mind sending this back to Microsoft if I could get my many back
or most of it. Or if I could some how return Vista to BestBuy for my money
back.

Thank you for your time and any help with this matter is needed.

Hi Chris,

Bestbuy does not accept returns of opened software. You'll need to deal with
Microsoft, see: http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/productrefund/refund.mspx

By the way, the majority of these failures are caused by incompatible
programs, especially antivirus software, left still installed on the system
at the time of upgrade. The spec's you listed are plenty sufficient for
Vista to run efficiently.

You need to do a clean install, not an upgrade. Google for "clean install
of Vista".

Quoted from the MS website:

http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/productrefund/refund.mspx

Along with a up to 7.00 for return shipping. The number to call:

Chris,

This sounds like a problem with your video card drivers or some of the
chipset drivers on the motherboard.

Did you visit the Asus website and check out Vista drivers for this
motherboard? If not you may solve all your problems by doing so.

Assuming you have lost your XP setup and have nothing important on there
at the moment I suggest format the drive and do a clean install nad then
install the chipset drivers and any other stuff you find on the Asus
site and see how it goes for a day or two. You may have to copy the
drivers onto a CD somehow first.

I have virtually the same setup and Vista Premium
installed with no difficulty.

Of course you did do an image backup of your XP before
you attempted to install a new OS...err right?

You guys are fast with help tips :)

I couldn't do a backup of my hard drive since my old one doesn't power up
anymore. It was a 80 GB Western Digital and I went to the store to buy the
250 GB hard drive with Vista. I tryed downloading all the new drivers for
video, motherboard, AMD clip and etc. But with no luck not even the windows
auto download wouldn't work to download any patchs to vista.

I sent out Vista to Microsolft today. But you guys are faster then Microsoft
phone support :)

I owe you guys.
