Can I do this?

I recently purchased a new Quad-core PC with Vista Home Preminum installed.
I have upgraded my Old Petium D Pc from Windows XP Media Center to Vista
Ultimate which works perfectly. I would like to re-build the old PC using XP
as the OS and transfer the Ultimate upgrade to the new PC. Is this allowed?

Also then if I can do this; should I install the upgrade as 32 or 64 bit? I
am not running anything except Office 2007 and a portion of Office 2003.

I should think that would work... if you've already registered the Ultimate
upgrade on your old PC, you'll probably have to call MS and explain the
above. As long as you're not running the same copy of Vista on multiple PC's
simultaneously, I think you're good to go. That's assuming, and I don't know
for sure, that the Vista Home Premium is an acceptable base OS for the
Ultimate Upgrade DVD... (T'would be crazy if it weren't, methinks.)

Thanks Lang,

It is an acceptable upgrade path...but I wasn't sure if I could move the
license around.
