Can I create rule to move email to a folder after reading

In Outlook 2003 is it possible to create a rule or otherwise set up a process
that will automatically move individual email messages from my Inbox to
designated folders once they are marked read? While there are a number of
options available in the Rules Wizard, this does not seem to be one of them.
This would be particularly useful for those of us who receive a large number
of emails. For example, I often have to make travel decisions on short
notice and am subscribed to a number of travel related email alerts for low
fares. The fares are generally valid for a number of days or weeks. When
the mail first comes in I look at it and then have to manually move it out of
my Inbox to a folder that I have set up to clear dated messages after a
period of time. If a trip comes up I can quickly refer to the travel folder
to find related fare offers and old messages are removed automatically. It
would be great to automate how these messages get into that folder.
Currently the only option seems to be to move all read messages into one
folder rather than being able to designate specific folders for related
emails.

Rules can only automatically be applied as the email is received AFAIK. Why
not set up rules to move these emails into different folders first and use
the Unread messages folder in the Favorites window? That folder displays
unread messages in any folder in the one view.

Thanks Gordon.

I'm so used to using my Inbox to process mail that I hadn't really thought
"out of the box" to think of this solution. It might just work for me. I'll
give it a try. I still think a "move when read" option would prove useful to
many Outlook users, but absent that, your solutionmight be a good alternative.
