Can I change the Navigation Pane Buttons default?

Many of our users here use the Public Folders to share
contacts and/or calendars within a department. We just
upgraded to 2003 from 97. In 97, one could drag or add a
shortcut to the Outlook bar from Public Folders, and
remove or move other shortcuts. Along those lines, users
would like to click on the "Contacts" button in the
Navigation Pane, and have it go directly to a public
contacts folder (one click access). Is this possible? I
know all about the shortcuts option, AND the favorites
folder option, but I want to know if the default place
those buttons point to can be changed. Thanks, Karen

you can add anything to the shortcut button... you can add contacts folders
to the contact's nav pane (add PF folder to favorites, then r-clck to choose
Add to my [folder]) and see it listed with the other folders of that type.

Thank you for the quick response. I have already added the
Public folder to the favorites folder, and see it in the
pane when I click on Contacts. But when I exit Outlook and
restart it, and click on the Contacts button, it ALWAYS
defaults to my personal contacts folder. (Which is empty).
I was looking for a way to have that button open the
public folder by default. I realize it's only one click,
and we can live with it, but I thought there might be a
way to change this, as it was possible in 97 to create a
way to go directly to the Public Folder with one click.
2003 is not very friendly to Public Folders and I support
nearly 200 users who have all become dependent on them.
Thanks, Karen
