I have windows Vista 6000, connected to a network defined as private, that
has a VPN connection defined as domain.
I can access to some computers from the network I can access \\servername1
and also ping the same computer.
Some other computer are accessed thru Remote desktop but if i do
\\servername2 it says that "Windows cannot access \\Servername2", error code
0x80070035 The network path was not found, and the ping appears request
timeout.

nslookup vmprov01
Server: ad01.lab.tasp.local
Address: 172.28.47.1:53

Name: vmprov01.lab.tasp.local
Address: 172.28.47.21

nslookup sase-web0
Server: ad01.lab.tasp.local
Address: 172.28.47.1:53

Name: sase-web0.lab.tasp.local
Address: 172.28.39.40

The computer is up and running but windows vista can access it why?

does the remote computer have a firewall enabled? can you ping the computer
you can't access through RDP? is port 3389 opened if so? have you tried
connecting to via the IP address? this will eliminate any DNS issues.

The remote has no firewall enabled, i canot ping him even if it returns the
correct ip address for the machine. Connecting via IP address doesnt work
also, but i can connect via remote desktop connection.
Meanwhile i found out that i can connect him via the complete name
servername.domain.local, but i'm in the domain for the machine, and i can
access other machines with out the domain embeded.
Any more thoughts?
