Can bring explorer up for half a second and then it shuts itself

Hello- wondering if anyone can lead me in the right direction. On my pc
(windows xp) whenever I try and bring up my internet explorer (6) you can see
that it comes up and connects and then it immediately shuts itself down.
I had just recently loaded up explorer 7 but the same thing was happening.
With explorer 7 though, I was able to open explorer without ad-ons and it
would work.
I originally thought I had done something wrong, so I un-installed 7 and am
now back to 6 which won't work at all.
Any idea what's going on?
Cheers-

Hi Kirsty,
IE7 left behind undesirable KEY try to delete it and see if the IE6 will
come to life.
Open the RUN Command and type in : regedit.exe or regedit32.exe and Press OK.
On the Registory Editor locate this KEY: (Courtesy of MVP Ramesh)
HKEY_Classes_Root\ClsiD\{c90250f3 - 4d7d - 4991 - 9b69 - ac5c5bc1c2ae6}
Delete this Key it left by IE7 and the system still reading it.
Close the Editor and Reboot your computer and try the IE6.
Also try to RUN the command: sfc /scannow and wait for it to finish checking
your system.
HTH
Please let us know.
Regards,
nass
