This one is a little different.

With only my desktop showing, I could plug my camera into the USB port and a
window would come up asking what I wanted to do.

It is gone. How do I get it back?

The Olympus software will work but it is kinda mickey mouse.

xp pro w/sp2 etc.

DoubleClick My Computer. DoubleClick the Removable drive (letter will
depend on your system). This will open the drive. Keep opening folders
till you get to the images. Do what you want with them.

I too have an Olympus (D-520). this works for me.

Mine is the 5050.

Yes that works, guess I'll have to settle for that.

Previously, this window came up on plugging the camera in without me doing
anything. It would ask if I wanted to download. I didn't use it often
enough to remember the exact wording and arrangement but it did it all
without the going to computer and clicking multiple directories.
