Hey guys...

Little problem I have here, I' will explain a bit about the issue. I
just finished putting together a dual xeon 3.0ghz machine, with 4gb
ram and two 250gig hard drives (SATA), its running XP pro as the
operating system. The machine doesnt seem to be running top notch. The
board is a Supermicro MBD-X7DAE-O. After running a hard drive
diagnostic utility, I found that the hard drives were reading/writing
at about 3MB/s , when they should be up around the 22MB/s mark. Any
ideas where I could tweak these settings or how to increase the speed
up to normal?? I noticed this increasingly slow difference next to a
single xeon machine that blew this dual-xeon out of the water. The XP
pro installation was slow and boggy, and now programs are installing
very slow. any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Chris,

I'm wondering if your HD has reverted back to PIO mode. See if these
articles help:

DMA reverts to PIO

and

Check the drive controllers in device management to see if they are running
at PIO mode instead of DMA.
