Caller ID on fax line??

J

JS

Greetings,
Would it help to have Caller ID on my fax line going into my XP machine fax
software? Sometimes when a fax coming in fails, I cannot tell who sent it. I
bring up the event viewer, but it does not help either. Any help would be
appreciated.

No. The Fax Service has no way to interpret Caller ID information.

Thank you for your response Russ. Any other suggestions on how to ID failed
incoming faxes?

Caller ID may be implemented independently of the fax
service, so that calls are identified and logged as soon
as the phone rings, before being picked up as a fax call.
Often there is software bundled with the modem that will
do this--you might have it already.

Windows XP Fax has no such feature. You need to look at solutions upstream
to the modem as Wislu suggested.
