Calculating person's age referring to absolute cell

I have put 2008 in a cell that can be updated each year. I am wanting to
calculate a person's age for the current year.

I have put 2008 in a cell that I want to refer back to absolutely when I
subtract the year found in a cell where I have entered a person's date of
birth using dd/mm/yy.

How can I write a forumula that give me the answer?

I've tried $N$2-M3(date,year) but yet a Name error in my destination cell.

What product are you using? Excel by chance?
If so, you need to find a group for the software you are using.

Here's how to get there via the web interface:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx

Click the + beside your language. then scroll down to Office and Desktop
Applications. In Office and Desktop Applications,
find the category for the software you are using. Open it and find a group
for your software to
your question.
