Calculating average response time for email

Hi Chaps,

I am new to Outlook programming. I am currently researching motivational displays of information and one piece of this is to ascertain how users respond to motivational displays when it comes to managing their inboxes.

I am trying to design an Outlook macro to calculate the average response times of emails per contact person as a starting point. However, I have been a LAMP guy all my life and haven't done much coding for Office at all.

Can someone please help me by telling me if a) the aforementioned macro is possible using the MAPI API and b) kindly point me to towards a quick beginner's guide on programming Outlook.
