"calculate" at bottom of worksheet

"calculate" appears at the bottom of my worksheet. It
seems to be some type of circular reference and some of
my formulas are not being calculated, even when I press F-
9. What should I do to track this down? Thank you.

Thank you for your reply. I have automatic calculation
turned-on, and Cont+Alt+F9 does not remove
the "calculate" message. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

no, no cir ref error. I tried using the circular ref
error none-the-less, but found none.

Hi
so it ould be that Excel isn't able to calculate automatically. But you
said automatic calculation was enabled. Also if you hit CTRL+ALT+F9
does the 'calculate' disappear at least so long as you enter no new
data?

If it the same problem as described in that KB article, then excel will
calculate correctly (if you don't interrupt it). From that KB:

Microsoft Excel will correctly calculate all formulas. However, the "Calculate"
message in the status bar indicates that Microsoft Excel can no longer track the
formula dependencies and is calculating every formula in the workbook after each
change. If you are unsure when the last calculation event took place and you
want to be sure your formulas are up to date, simply start a calculation
manually. To do this, press CTRL+ALT+F9 and wait until "Calculating Cells: n%"
disappears and "Calculate" returns to the status bar.

You could either look at the entire thread or look at the
previous replies at bottom of the same posting, which I'd normally
cut off some of it but just to show that it was there still intact:

XL: Calculate Message Remains in Status Bar If 65,536 Formula References
