Cached Mode Not Available

Outlook 2003 SP2 on a Windows XP Pro SP2 machine.

Use Outlook to connect to Exchange 2003 SP2 mailbox, but want to use Cached
Mode to enable Junk Email facility.

Cached Mode option is greyed out however.

Any ideas why and how to enable it?

Thanks

If it is grayed out, it means the site used a group policy object from
Active Directory to disable the feature. Have you asked the powers that be
that run your network why they turned this off and/or would they be willing
to turn it back on?

I am the admin!

There are no GPO's turning this feature off.

Did you ask the admin if they disabled cache mode via policy?

And there are no GPO's turning the feature off. This is why I don't
understand it.

Is the same true when you create a new mail profile through Control Panel->
Mail-> button Show Profiles...?

Are you running any add-ins?

Okay. Was the CIW used to transform or customize what options would be
available when Office/Outlook 2003 installed? (When using Outlook 2003 OPA
file, the registry setting gets tucked into the MST file.)

My admin does the software installs, but I don't remember him mentioning it.
He knows we use Cached Mode on some maachines and were using it more and
more for client-side Junk Mail filtering so don't know why he would have.

I will ask him on Monday.

If it's just a reg setting though I assume it can be reversed by reg
editing? And if so which key?

Thanks

This is from the ADM

POLICY "Disable Cached Exchange Mode on new profiles"
KEYNAME "Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Cached Mode"
PART "Check to disable Cached Exchange Mode on new profiles" CHECKBOX
VALUENAME Enable
VALUEON NUMERIC 0
VALUEOFF NUMERIC 1
END PART
END POLICY

The OPA file shows

POLICY "Disable Cached Exchange Mode on new profiles"
KEYNAME "Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Cached Mode"
PART "Check to disable Cached Exchange Mode on new profiles" CHECKBOX
VALUENAME Enable
VALUEON NUMERIC 0
VALUEOFF NUMERIC 1
END PART
END POLICY

Both are HKCU registry locations and yes, you can use a group policy object
to force cached mode on since the ADM overrides the OPA.
