P
Poor Yorick's Almanack
My sister is having trouble getting onto the internet through her cable
modem. When she restarts the modem -- or even breaks the network
connection to her computer by unplugging the ethernet cable from the
back of her modem -- she gets only about two or three minutes of
connection before she gets the "cannot find server" error page in her
browser (IE 6). She has Windows XP SP2 and MacAfee Personal Firewall
Plus. This problem persists even when both of those firewalls are
disabled. She's plugged directly into the cable modem and no other
computers share the connection. The properties of her connection say
that she's getting an IP address assigned to her and that her status is
connected, though after a while it looks like she's sending a lot more
packets than she's receiving.
I would appreciate any help with this problem.
Thanks,
