CA Internet Security

One of the worst mistakes of my life was purchasing CA internet Security
suite. It is easier to get rid of AIDS than it is to get rid of this
company's programs. It took me over 14 hours working with their customer
support people to get rid of 90 % of the programs they installed and hid and
in the process my windows install was screwed up so bad I may have to format
my drive and reinstall eveything - which is a problem because I have
misplaced my genuine XP disks. But that is not my main question. One of the
things this vampire program took over was Windows Security Center. I
continually get a message saying that eTrust EZ (don't you believe it)
Antivirus may be out of date and that I need to update it. I don't want to
update it - I would like to completely destroy it! How do I get Windows
Security Center to quit trying to update this? I have tried and can't figure
it out. Please help me!

Thanks, Dan

Try this from a recent post by Malke

Start>Run>cmd [enter]

net stop winmgmt [enter]
cd /d %windir%\system32\wbem [enter]
ren repository repository.old [enter]
net start winmgmt [enter]

As you found out, you are better off without any of the large suites such as
McAfee, Norton, CA, etc. There are plenty of good alternatives including
some that are free.

Hi Dan,

I did a CA UN install once and noticed it left 2 services running on auto
start. I'm tempted to comment on just that - but I'll count to 10 slowly
instead. ;-)
See if you have these services running and disable them. Control Panel /
Administrative tools / Services.
May help?

Stop using those paper phone message pads
make the computer work for you.
