CA EZ Anti-virus (version 6.1) & ISafe

I have been running this for a couple years. I am a paid customer. I
was just advised that I cud get a free upgrade of my version. I was
running version 6.0. So I d/l version 6.1 and in the LAST week have
had NOTHING but problems.

Before I could actually SEE what updated virus signature dat I have.
Now nothing so I assume the virus signatures are being updated. Based
on my problems since I upgraded I am CONCERNED.

Where do companies like MS and CA learn their IT? A process like this
should be painless. If I did this for the softwware I sell, I would
NOT have any clients.

Now I get error messages "no buffer space available" when I try to do
a couple common NET tasks at once. I am running Windoze 98SE with
sufficent RAM & empty hard drive space. BTW, I cud in version 6.0 run
both Eudora & Agent (for newsgroups) without getting this error.

It appears that the prob file "mite" be ISafe. If I delete this, the
no buffer space error goes away. But now I have NO protection on
Emails. I am 99.9% sure that I had full Email protection in version
6.0 as every so often a box would popup saying "attachment has a
virus".

Support as with MS is poor. You end up with simplistic automatic
replies which so far has NOT corrected any of the problems.

One VERY peeved off customer of EZ Anti-virus.

Oooooooops made a mistake on the versions. I now have version 6.2 so
I assume my past one was 61.

Sorry about that.

Doesn't matter what version you have. I'm more amazed you sell software
and you say you run Windows 98. No wonder you're having problems.......

Get a real OS. Win98 can't keep itself up, let alone "a couple common
NET tasks at once".

Older versions scanned attachments when you saved/opened them. 6.2 does
this also, but iSafe is POP3 email scanning and is new in 6.2 only. To
turn off iSafe, open 6.2 and click Options -> Real Time Protection and
turn off the email scanning option there. While you're there, click on
Help and read. And stop deleting stuff if you don't know what it does.

Such aggressive? Does it come with the fact that you are brilliant?
Intelligent? Know all?

Thanks for the very thougth provoking ideas, they were helpful.

A real belly laugh that you did not suggest a solution. I am shocked
that you are so brilliant & did not take into account that I mite have
to run Windows 98 as you mite not be able to comprehend, the world
does NOT all use XP.

And the point of your reply is? You must have a very limited life if
you spend all your time & energy coming up with such wise gems of
knowledge to help others.

Once again thanks for the HELP. Plonk

I have customers who have gone back to previous versions of Windoze
because XP were giving them problems. Obviously, they did not see your
post.

Sorry about that.

I also took the free upgrade from 6.1 to 6.2 but was only after
the smaller updates feature. Using ISafe is 'not' a good Safehex
practice. Safehex provides better overall protection than antivirus
programs. http://www.claymania.com/safe-hex.html

Anyway, I can't confirm a problem with ISafe but was surprised to
see it is running in Task Manager when I declined to set up that
feature during install.

I have corresponded with CA a few times since replacing IPE
with EZTrust and have gotten rapid responses. Have you tried

See my previous post to other helpful person.

Where did I say I "DELETED" the file? Once again you are 100% wrong
viz "let alone...couple common NET tasks at once" I was doing it all
the time with no crashes. No prob. Your point was?

Please read my Email, the part about I had no problem with EZ
Anti-virus, version 6.1. Its the update to 6.2 that created a prob.

Thanks for the help.
