For some time now when Booting up the computer I keep getting this message
appear 'c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. the system file is not suitable for
running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. Choose close to terminate
the application' then the system 32 folder automatically opens. Once I close
the windows I am able to use the system ok, except that I have been unable to
load some programmes that may be Dos based. Any ideas please?

Error message when you install or start an MS-DOS or 16-bit Windows-based
program

Also can be caused by a Trojan installing a file windupdater.exe and
creating registry entries for that file.

You can put back the standard version of autoexec.nt by copying a backup
copy held in windows\repair to windows\system32.

Make sure you do a thorough scan for malware too.
