C++ Runtime error

M

Michael

When first opening Outlook I get the following message. I click OK and the
second time I go in it's fine. This applies on subsequent entries until I
re-boot the machine when the first entry raises the error again. It applies
once to each XP User account.

I have uninstalled 2000 and installed Office XP still the same problem.

I have deleted each user account (including files) and re-created them.
Still same error.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

MESSAGE IS:

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime error
Program: C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~3\Office\OUTLOOK.EXE

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual
way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

OK"

I have searched the MS Knowledge base but can find no reference to this
error.

No solution, just to let you know that you are not alone. I have the same
problem. With me the problem started to arise after I installed Norton
Internet Security, although that could be just a coincidence.

I tend to find that the problem comes whenever someone logs onto the PC for
the first time after someone else has previously logged on as their own user
name and used Outlook. Like you, if I click on OK and re-run Outlook it
launches no problem (can be a bit of a delay while the hard disk goes into a
frenzy).

I have a similar problem that crops up when I start Outlook with a
different profile without rebooting in between. I see the Run Time
error message with an "Abnormal Program Termination" meesage, but when
I try a second time, I'm fine ( OK - I'm not fine, but Outlook is OK
).

There is one article in the Knowledge Base that appears to address
this problem in part:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;325117&Product=offxp.
It's the right message for me, but I don't have an Exchange Scan box
under the Add-In Manager.

I also have NIS installed.
