C++ Runtime Error when accepting meeting in Outlook 2000

OS: Windows XP

I am having difficulty with Outlook 2000 running on an exchange
server. When I receive a meeting request from a user - if I open it
and click "accept" and select the option of "send a response now" I
receive an error of:

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtmie Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OUTLOOK.EXE

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual
way........."

If I open it and click "accept" and select the option "Don't send a
response" it goes through no problem. Some added info - even if I
accept - send the response - and I get the C++ error and Outlook
closes out the meeting request will still be listed in my calender.

Any help is appreciated - I have already attempted to search the
groups with not much luck.
