Bye Vista, I won't miss ya!

Be careful what you assume.
Because if that is what you think I meant, you are wrong.

If you knew how to write clearly people wouldn't have to assume
anything.

You keep saying that I'm wrong but I see nothing to suggest that I am.

"You keep saying..."
I only said it once.
You are free to assume as you wish.

Damn, you're some world class idiot. The whole concept behind Windows
is you learn it once, you should be able to run any Windows
application or understand any version of Windows. What trips up
dummies like you is you general intelligence is so low you haven't
learned how to use Windows and you still don't know how. I learned how
back in the 80's. Sure, Vista moved a few things around, renamed
others and added a few useless things like UAC. Still, it's the same
old Windows and works like it always has. There isn't anything to re
learn, just a few things you need to relocate or learn the new name
of. Big deal. Took me five minutes. As you said Frank it took you six
months and you still don't get it. So who's the real dummy?

Your concept of what makes an "knowledgeable" user and my concept is
obviously very different.

Only for idiots. Thanks for confirming that's what you are.

hehehe...just a little bit over your pointy head, huh?
Well what can we expect form a drunken as*hole loser like you?
Intelligent thought? Useful discourse? How about arrogant bullsh*t
meaningless answers?
Yeah, that's the one!
You idiot!
Grow up and get a life you drunken son of a bit*h!

Believe it or not, my roommate in grad school had the same experience.
By some miracle, ME ran smoothly on his P-III system without unusual
problems for nearly 2 years!!!. He was a truly lucky dude.

All the others I knew went back to Win 98SE after a week with ME :D

Why didn't they just unistall Norton AV and ME would have worked fine. LOL

Indeed and that bugs me. It is ALWAYS the same suspects making the
same kind of wisecracks.

1. You didn't do research.
2. Nobody forced you to upgrade.
3. Go back to XP.
4. That's a driver issue.
5. I don't need to (fill in the blank) because I'm smarter.

And my personal favorite, Vista isn't XP+ you need to learn it.

For a newsgroup who's primary purpose is to help people with problems
and for customers to discuss issues and even vent if they want there
are way too many prima donna types trying to tell us how clever they
think they are and they seem to enjoy starting pissing contests. Well,
bring it on, I got a bigger hose and it seems a few fanboys in
particular love to keep getting wet. Especially one named Frank.

Agreed.

When MS expects me to shell out up to 399 for ultimate, I expect it to
just WORK! With all my hardware, with all my software, without needing any
significant amount of user intervention from me. And while it's at it, for
that kind of money, it better cook my dinner and clean my house too and
maybe even wash my car.

Out of all the windows upgrades I have ever done, Vista has been the most
piss poor experience I've ever had.

Then it won't work for you. If you don't have time to learn to use a
computer, don't use one, same as if you don't have time to learn to
drive, don't drive, if you don't have time to learn to use a chainsaw,
join all the other one legged folks who didn't have time to learn.

Sorry, no sympathy here.

If you don't have time to learn how to land an aircraft
don't learn to fly (outside the USA!)

You have told me the same thing before, and I note you still try to
obfuscate the conversation by selectively quoting only those parts you
deem relevant.

There was no mention of how many hours training were required in the
ADs, they simply suggested "The WOW starts now". That clearly implies
that users familiar with the basic "Windows" philosophy would accomplish
"On the job" or self training with no major effort.

The reason Microsoft wanted it to "Look" different is obvious, there was
nothing substantially better about Vista at all, but there were a number
of things which were worse. Adding an artificial "Learning curve" makes
it take longer for customers to realize they have little more than a
castrated XP with DRM enforcement, WGA enforcement and Activation,
together with driver issues in return for eye candy. Of course the added
learning curve makes the Fanboys happy because they can keep an air of
superiority over the unclean rabble.

Actually I've found it easier to learn the GUI from a number of versions
of Linux than to manipulate the obscure and often misleading new "Vista"
interface, I suspect other users will too. This is a pity because the
core of Vista appears to be solid, but the new design has made things
more difficult for new users, not less.

Look again Charlie.
Your ENTIRE post was quoted.
The fact one part was quoted a 2nd time does not remove the other.
If you fail to scroll just a little it is not my fault.

I am beginning to see how you assume so much when you do not even look
at the entire post.
Do not confuse your inability/unwillingness to scroll and view an
entire post with an assumption I am attempting to "obfuscate the
conversation".

Now do you have something of value to contribute to the thread or are
you only narrowly focused at nit picking my posts?

What a dork... Jupiter is bitching someone else is too lazy to scroll
and Jupiter is a top poster too lazy to scroll himself. What has
Jupiter posted aside from rants and his usual whining? Not a damn
thing. So Jupiter is just a control freak and hypocrite.

This is too easy, like shooting fish in a barrel.

Agreed, I've had the same thought...

I first migrated to Kubuntu as it was most windows-like. I ditched it in
less than a month and went to just normal Ubuntu leaving the windows-like
desktop far behind.

Probably the reason though why windows users favor pclinuxos over Ubuntu
as it uses KDE which is very similar to windows.

Gnome can be a little alien, though not nearly as alien as Vista in my
opinion, to a windows user.

I can see that there are difficulties for existing Windows users,
I've been frustrated once in a while, but can't see how you've measured
the comparative experience of new users.
