Everyone's opinion will be different. YOU are the one that will be using it.
Try them both out and YOU select it, for YOU are paying for it. If you are
that naive to look for opinions of others, suggest you request the help of
a close friend or relative that is more familiar with computers/laptops.

Since the link you posted is incomplete, no, nobody knows which
computers you are considering.

Moreover, this is not a Windows XP question, and you would be better
off asking such a question in a hardware newsgroup rather than here.

Without knowing exactly how you will be using the computer, what
applications you'll be using, no one could possibly offer any reasonable
advice. Only you know the answers to these questions, so only you can
decide which computer will best meet your needs. (Besides, the link you
provided doesn't work.)

PC World is often a good way to get an overview. A couple of years
ago I used a feature on their Web site that lets you select desired
features and price and gives the choices that match. I bought an Acer
because its price/features ratio was among the best, and I have been
generally happy with it.

hopefully this one will work. these are the 2 i am thinking about. they are
very similar but just wanted others opinions thanks

Again, that link doesn't work. And it won't work for anyone who
doesn't have the same cookies on their hard drive as you . Either
specifically identify the laptop makes and models, or decide for yourself.

The links that you provided work.

Look at the specs. Since you're going Vista, choose the laptop that has the
fastest processor and bus speeds and the most RAM. Since the two look so
close I'd choose Toshiba because I've owned a $800 Satellite for more than 15
months now. It's a good work horse and hasn't given me any problems except
once or twice when the Explorer didn't download video streaming, but that
problem cleaned itself up nicely by itself. (I now own 4 laptops and they all
have their own little quirks.)

Your choice. Good luck.
