Business Contact Manager and Syncronizing with IPAQ

Guest

I installed BSN with no problem and it worked as advertised. I syncronized my regular contacts with my IPAQ successfully and then after closing and coming back into Outlook 2003 my BSN was corrupted i.e., the menu and file BSN options disappeared. Further, when I went to my contacts, brought up the BSN contacts and opened a contact the history window displayed all my inbox emails. Further, the "Add" button had become inopperative

Is it possible to have BSN installed and still syncronize my regular contacts wtih my IPAQ without corrupting my BSN progam?

The symptoms you see indicate that the BCM application has unloaded for some reason. Restarting Outlook should bring it back to life.

If the problem occurs again, you may want initiate a support incident with Microsoft at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;en-us;incidentsubmit.You will need a .Net Passport, but there should be no charge for filing the request. Be sure to specify what synchronization software and version you're using.

Restarting is not the solution; as soon as I syncronize the same results repeat themselves. I already have a support incident and they have given up. Support incident #:SRX031027604389.

Thanks for the incident number. You were using ActiveSync to perform the synchronization? What version?

My guess is that Microsoft Support could not reproduce the problem so they don't quite know what to do about it. I know that lots of people have used ActiveSync with BCM even during the beta (myself included), though, without running into this issue.

Do you have any other Outlook-related programs installed?

I have the office suite with word, powerpoint, access, excel, frontpage and access. I have the ACT 6.0 but was hoping to replace it with BSN. Maybe it's the IPAQ. Was your test wtih an IPAQ? If you look through the the discussion group in Outlook New Users and this one you will see many other people who are having a similar problem so I don't think it's unique to my system

A lot of the Microsoft folks have IPAQs, so I don't think that's it. What about antivirus, antispam, fax -- anything else that might be working with Outlook? Can you turn off the ACT 6.0 integration with Outlook?

I do have Norton Antivirus but do I want to disable it? I've done everything I can to turn off ACT; I've disabled all Outlook connections. No antiispan except what's available within Outlook; I do have an internal fax but it's the Windows XP fax.

The problem is clearly IPAQ syncronizing related. If I have BSN installed with the IPAQ in its cradle and Outlook open the program works as it should. If I leave Outlook open and syncornize IPAQ the contacts continue to show as the should with no problems within the individual contacts i.e., history, Add button, etc.

If I close out of outlook after syncronizing with my IPAQ and then come back into Outlook the Business Contact Manager does not appear active; the menu and file buttons don't exist and if I pull up the Business Contacts and open an individual fcontact all current inbox emails appear in the history window and the "Add" button is inoperable.
