Burning RC1 in XP with Nero 7

Ok.....First, I was upset......Then I got angry......Now, I want to kill
something!

Every time I try to burn this verdammit ISO file, all I get on my DVD is a
text file that says this:

********************
This disc contains a "UDF" file system and requires an operating system
that supports the ISO-13346 "UDF" file system specification.
********************

I cannot see any folders or files, only the above text file.......

I have wasted numerous blank DVD's..........And not just one or 2.

I have tried other burning software with the same result.

THIS THIS SOME KIND OF SICK JOKE?!

Firstly, have you made sure that the ISO files are not corrupted by checking
the MD5 and/or SHA1 figures? If the MD5 or SHA1 does not agree, you have
corrupted files and you will have to download them anew.

Secondly, are you using the correct method within NERO i.e. to burn an
'image'?
This is a different process from burning music, movie or data disks.
In 'Nero', you 'Cancel' the compilation wizard, click 'Recorder' on the
menu bar and select
'Burn Image'. You then have to select your ISO file which should bring up a
2 tab wizard,
where the tabs are: 'Info' and 'Burn'. Select the settings you want on the
'Burn' tab
(e.g. select DVD, and MS advise a slow burn speed) and click the 'Burn'
button.

Thirdly, even though you cannot see other files, it is because Windows
Explorer cannot see them and the DVD may still run OK. If you put the DVD in
your drive, and assuming your drives are set to autoplay, do you get an
install window appear? If so, everything is probably fine.

Yes, I burned as an image, and no, I do not get an installation window, I get
the above text file.

Nope.....Drive works great. In fact, I burned a few things just now with
it.....

:)

What is the hash number of RC1? Here's mine:

d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e

The hash numbers posated thusfar are for Pre-RC1..........

This worked for me, maybe it will help you.

Insert a blank DVD, open Nero Smartstart. Change the media type to DVD.
Select COPY and BACKUP. Click "Burn Image to Disk." Navigate to where the
RC-1 image is stored on your hard disk. Click open and the burnung wizard
will automatically start.

Just put a DVD in the drive, and double-click on the ISO file you
downloaded from Microsoft named
"vista_5600.16384.060829-2230_x86fre_client-lr1cfre_en_dvd.iso", (NOT
the one you "burned" yourself). Don't even open Nero first -- when
you double-click on the file you downloaded from Microsoft, Nero 7
will launch and open it automatically). Then once in Nero, click on
the "Burn" button. Wait for it to burn, and it will be ok IF you had
a good ISO in the first place. MAKE SURE, HOWEVER, THAT YOU ONLY BURN
IT AT 1X-2X. NO FASTER, or it will certainly be a bad burn.

_NOTHING ELSE IS NECESSARY!!!. Don't try to "tweak" it or
ANYTHING!!!_

Then wait for Nero to eject it, and open it in Explorer. If you see
the directory structure, it was burnt properly. If you don't you
would probably mess up shit without even trying.

Seriously, its a non-brainer, Baron.
