I have downloaded music from walMart and am attempting to
burn an audio cd with the songs on it. I am able to burn
the cd ok and it will play on my computer but will not
play on a portable cd player or in my car. I am using
windows media player ver 9 and windows xp. Thanks for
any help you can provide.- Randy

Hi, Not all portable/car CD's players will play burned CD's. Try burning
with a program like Nero Burning ROM and see if that helps.

There are basically 4 different CD types : CD-R, CD+R, CD-WR, CD+RW. Any "RW" will NOT play in a regular CD player, so first make sure its a CD-R or CD+R. Also, if it's an older CD player it may not play any burned CD no matter what you do. Try a different CD brand (Name brands like Sony work best but cost more). And finally, try to be a little discreet; don't let everyone know you're copying CD's...it may be illegal in some cases. Try these solutions first before using different software. Good luck

BINGO! Master T you are great. I have been trying to
record on a CD-RW. I was previously able to burn a disk
using music from a different source. I did not notice
that at the time, I used a CD-R. i SWITCHED TO A cd-R
again and everything works great. Also, thank you for
your advice about being discreet. I am however being very
careful to do any and all recording legally. I am one of
the new (thousands) that have started down loading music
only after they provided us a legal means to do it. I am
not being critical of those who came befor us however.
Thanks again, it is good to have people like you out
there!

Thanks for your reply Cris. As Master T suggested, my
problem was that I was using a CD-RW. Switched to a CD-R
and everything is working great now.

cl, thanks for your reply and suggestions. The problem I
was having was that I was using a CD-RW. According to
Master T, they do not work very well. I swithced to a CD-
R and everything is working fine now. Again, thanks.
