burn CD-R fails

My laptop is failing.
I tried to preserve some of my old data by
burning it to CD-R. Since Roxio
(aka "IBM RecordNow") has already gone, I
tried to use simple drang-and-drop. It
appeared to work, but when it was through,
the CD is not readable (no totally readable).

After searching the internet (aka google),
I suspect the reason is something called
"finish". When burning is finished, the
burner is suppose to create a table of
contents.

question
How can I tell IBM drag-and-drop to create
a table of contents?

Thanks,
Charles

Drag and Drop module may be the "packet writing" system which treats
the CD as a "huge" floppy drive. Packet writing does not "finalise"
CDs created with it.
