Bullet and numbering library doesn't work

I installed Office Enterprise 2007 on University computer labs PCs. When I
logon with an administrators group account, powerpoint application works
fine. But when students logon with a standards user account and use
powerpoint application, the bullet and numbering library does not work. The
PCs run windows XP SP3 and Office 2007 SP1.
This problem does not occur with Office 2003 for windows and Office 2008 for
Mac platform either.
Please give me some clues how to fix this problem of powerpoint 2007. Many
thanks in advance.

Hi van

See if this helps:
PowerPoint 2007 text editing slow, text cut off, text display or formatting
problems, print, crash problems
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00850.htm

If not, what do you mean by 'does not work'? Is it missing, greyed out,
nothing happens when buttons clicked, etc.

Thank you very much for prompt reply Lucy. But my problem is different. I
think you can check with your machine. You logon your machine with a standard
user account (that is an account which is not a member of administrators
group). Open powerpoint application and click on bullet or numbering icon on
toolbar, you won't see any bullet or numbering styles. I think it is a
problem with permission to access bullet and numbering library file. But
where is that file?
This is my first time with this discussion group and your last reply is a
great encouragement to me. Thank you so much.

Thank you Lucy.
I found the problem occurs because of my default printer. A work around
solution is to change default printer to Adobe PDF (or similar one).
Many thank to all.
The thread is closed to us but Microsoft should look at it for a proper fix.

Hi van

I'm afraid I can't recreate this behaviour on XP or Vista. Which is good &
bad news :)

I'm having difficulty picturing exactly what is happening at your end - can
we go through it step by step in detail? This is how I would access the
gallery - let me know where it goes wrong for your users:
1. Open new presentation
2. On home tab, change layout to 'Title & Content'
3. Click 'Click here to add text' - I see a round bullet point (do your
users?)
4. Click on drop down next to bullet button in paragraph section of Home
tab - I can see 8 choices in a 3x3 grid or I can click 'bullets & numbering'
to open a dialogue box.

I take it only the bullets/numbering is a problem and everything else is
fine? Have you opened the blank template to see if it has bullets on the
masters?

Hy Van
I have the same problem...how did you resolve the problem ?
thanks in advance.

Hi Peter,
The problem occured when I chose printer Ricoh Aficio AP4510 as default
printer. My solution is changing default printer to other one. Ricoh printer
driver also causes a problem with Photoshop CS3. If I choose Ricoh printer as
default printer I cannot open more than one file with Photoshop CS3
application.
Good luck,
Van.
