BSOD Stop error driving me NUTS!

So last night I started getting stop errors/bsod's. The
message is STOP: 0x0000007f UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

These errors happen completely randomly, but only if I am
really using the cpu/ram.... if I'm just casually surfing
or writing emails I have no problems. As soon as I load up
bit torrent, usenet, coreldraw, photoshop and anything else
i get the bsod within about 15 minutes. The temps are all
normal ~45C cpu temp.

I have no new hardware or software that I could see causing
this, though I used to have some errors on my ram I have
tried replacing it today with some Kingston HyperX pc4000
with no errors reported on either that or my GEIL running
memtest86.

Here are the full system specs if they are of help:

Aopen AX4C-MAX P4 2.6 w/ HT @ 800fsb 1024MB Geil 2.5cas
(running at 2.80v error free in memtest86 - 2x512mb) Radeon
9600pro 256mb 2 x 200gb WD 2 x 40gb WD Raptors SATA Raid 0
linksys nic optorite 4x dvd+-r/rw pioneer 120s dvd-rom
lite-on 52x cdr

I think that should cover all of it... I have reinstalled
XP Pro sp1, as well as run the system file verifier thing.
i have also swapped the ram sticks with the kingstons and
no difference did it make. I'm going nuts.... time to RMA
the board? time to buy a new mainboard? I need help people!

Some issues I am considering:

Is my 400watt power supply adequate to run all of this
stuff? It's been working fine for months but perhaps this
has caused some instability? Could both the Kingston and
the GEIL be clashing with my mobo?

Thanks,

Rob

the fact that the problem only occurs at high cpu usage
and therefore, high power usage, points to the power
supply going bad.
usually they simply fail and won't boot the comp but i
have heard of a power supply causing your problem.

Is there any way to test this theory? Would you think 400watts is enough?

Wow... great information on that site! I'll try disabling nortonAV ... if I
had some different memory I would try that, but I only have GEIL 2.5cas and
Kingston HyperX
