BSOD Bad_pool_header when deleting user account

I am cleaning up my home XP SP2 computer and deleting some of my kids
accounts from it. I deleted one ok, but whenever I delete this one particular
account I get the BSOD and bad_pool_header error. I get it as soon as I press
the Delete Account button (after I've told it to delete the files). What can
be causing this and how can I fix this?

That error message is most commonly caused by a device driver issue.
Have you tried booting the computer into Safe Mode and then deleting
the user account?

Good luck

When doing a search for BAD_POOL_HEADER I did find a lot about device drivers
and this error. I have never seen this error before on my 6-yr old machine so
that is why I was perplexed that it only happens when trying to delete this
one user account. I will try Safe Mode. Thanks.

Ok, Safe Mode was a no-go. First, the account I wanted to delete was a
Limited account and apparently Limited accounts don't show up when in Safe
Mode. After changing the account to Administrator I went back into Safe Mode
and still got the BSOD with same error when trying to delete.

Rebooted back into normal mode and went to Event Viewer to find the dump
produced and navigated to it. yes, its full of gibberish to the naked eye,
but after scrolling thru I found the Fatal Error and a Stop so I backed up in
the dump from there and saw the last thing trying to process was Macromedia's
Flash driver or something like that. Went to Documents & Setting and
navigated to the user's application data folder and manually deleted the
Macromedia folder and did the same int ehuser's Local Settings folder as well.

Now I went to delete the account and, voila! It worked.

Great piece of detective work. Glad to hear that you were able to
resolve your problem.
