Browseui.dll

XP won't startup. During boot I get the error message box with
Explorer.exe-Unable to locate component in the title bar. The message says
"The application has failed to start because browseui.dll was not found". I
click on OK and the machine just sits there.

Try starting the machine in safe mode.

To start Windows XP in Safe Mode turn it on and start tapping the F8
key rapidly just as soon as the first information of any kind shows on
the scene. Keep tapping rapidly until the Windows XP Startup Menu
appears and choose Safe Mode from the menu.

If Safe Mode does not work you could also try using "last known good
configuration" from the same menu.

If you can get the machine booted up then open a Command Prompt window
(Start - Run - CMD) and enter the following command:

SFC /SCANNOW

If you cannot boot to Safe Mode or to Last Known Good Configuration
then try running the Windows XP Recovery Console. If you have a
Windows XP full installation CD then boot your computer with this CD
and from the first menu choose the Repair (Recovery Console) option.
When it has finished loading and has stopped at the command prompt
then enter the following command:

COPY C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386\browseui.dll C:\Windows\System32

If your Windows XP is on a "System Recovery" disk or in a hidden
"System Recovery" partition on the hard drive then you will almost
certainly not have the ability to boot to the Recovery Console from
the CD. In that circumstance you need to download the 6 diskette boot
image set for your version of Windows XP from
http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=310994 and use these diskettes to
boot the computer and run the above command.

Good luck
