Aaargh! I'm having trouble permanently deleting unwanted
offensive sites from my browser "Favorites" that another
user put on there. I took earlier advice & ran a
spyware/adware program and wiped them out. But, again,
they're back on my Favorites. How can I permanently get
rid of them? No one uses this computer but myself any
longer. They just keep popping back up. HELP!!!! Please!
Thanks!

If you remove them and then reboot in Safe Mode do they come back? I'm just
wondering if there's something loading on boot that's putting these back.
Running MSCONFIG is a good way to see what's loading when the system starts.
Are you a member of a domain where profiles may be in place? You can also
try deleting them directly from the C:\Documents and
Settings\<username>\Favorites folder to see if that works any better
(assuming that Windows XP is installed to your C: drive).

You need the following:
A good firewall like Zone Alarm or use built-in firewall in XP.

A good anti-virus scanner.

Ad-Aware 6.0
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Spybot Search & Destroy
http://www.safer-networking.org/

Make sure you use the update function in each before running.

CWShredder - for page hijacks
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4086.html

Google Toolbar - to block popups
http://toolbar.google.com/

Before running these, delete temporary internet files and internet history.
