Browser Link problem

B

Bob

Need help with Browser Problem.

I tried to get help from the virus group without success. When I go to a web
site I get certain words highlighted and underlined. When I run the cursor
over the highlighted words, a drop down menu appears with a list of
categories. When you click on any one of the categories the browser goes to
another site, a search site.

None of the categories are related to the site I'm at. For instance when I'
m at Microsoft the links will take me to a completely different site.

I have been able to find and remove some 11 files from scans for viruses. I
have updated IE and even tried to install an old version (downloaded from
Microsoft). I could not download the old version because it said I had a
newer version on my system.

I must assume that IE is corrupted or there is some type of file attached?
Could there be instructions in the registry that is telling IE to create
"link" commands to certain words? I would like to solve the problem without
having to re-install xp.

Thank you,

Bob
